NID DAT Mains ( M.Design ) Coaching
BRDS is conducting NID DAT Mains ( M.Design ) classes as per the discipline applied by the candidate. NID DAT Mains Test for M.Design Students is divided into three parts: Studio Test, Interview and Portfolio review at NID Campuses.
A common Studio Test will be conducted for each faculty stream at the NID Campus , while interviews will be discipline-specific. Studio test will comprise of various activities such as Hands-on model making (3 D model making), Drawing / Sketching, Audio-visual perception test, etc.

About NID DAT Mains 2027 ( NID Studio Test 2026 )
1. What is NID DAT Mains?
The NID DAT Mains is the second and final phase of the National Institute of Design – Design Aptitude Test (DAT). Candidates who successfully clear the DAT Prelims are eligible to appear for DAT Mains. NID DAT Mains is designed to assess a candidate’s creativity, design sensitivity, problem-solving ability, material handling skills, and presence of mind through a series of practical and interactive tests.
For B.Design (B.Des) candidates, DAT Mains consists of two components:
1. Studio Sensitivity Test
2. In-Person Sensitivity Test
For M.Design (M.Des) candidates, DAT Mains consists of:
1. Studio Test
2. Interview (including Portfolio Review)
2. What happens in the NID DAT Mains Exam for B.Design?
For B.Design candidates, the NID DAT Mains is divided into two parts:
1. Studio Sensitivity Test: This test evaluates creativity and design thinking through activities such as Doodling, Drawing and sketching, 3D model making, Material manipulation and Sensory-based exercises
2. In-Person Sensitivity Test: This is a face-to-face test conducted at the NID campus, where candidates are evaluated on Observation and articulation skills and Ability to communicate ideas clearly. Candidates may also be asked to discuss or present their previous work, and portfolio-related discussions may be part of the interaction.
3. What happens in the NID DAT Mains Exam for M.Design?
For M.Design candidates, the NID DAT Mains consists of two major components:
1. Studio Test: The Studio Test is Stream-specific and this test includes activities like model making (3D), sketching, and sensory tasks ( Audio – visual perception test), focused on testing the candidate’s design ability.
2.Interview and Portfolio Review: The interview process evaluates your design knowledge, skills, and aptitude in person. During the interview, candidates are required to present and discuss their portfolio with the panel.
4. What is the Weightage of the NID DAT Mains Exam?
As per the revised NID 2026 exam pattern, DAT Mains carries 100% weightage in the final selection. DAT Prelims is only a screening test and does not carry any weightage in the final merit list.
For B.Design:
- Studio Sensitivity Test: 60%
- In-Person Sensitivity Test: 40%
- Final Selection: 100% based on DAT Mains
For M.Design:
- Studio Test: 40%
- Interview & Portfolio Review: 60%
