The NID Entrance Exam, officially known as the NID Design Aptitude Test (DAT), is a national-level test conducted by NID every year for admission to its B.Des and M.Des programmes. It is a two-stage exam: DAT Prelims (written, pen-and-paper) and DAT Mains (studio test and/or personal interview).

For B.Des at NID Ahmedabad, the total programme fee for 4 years is approximately ₹17.1 Lakhs. For M.Des (2.5 years), fees range from approximately ₹11.5 Lakhs to ₹13.28 Lakhs depending on the specialisation and campus.
